Inspiration Point towers 600 feet above Lake Tahoe and is one of the best spots to stop and take in the view of Emerald Bay, Fannette Island, Vikingsholm Castle and more! Bring your camera for some dramatic Lake Tahoe photos and take advantage of the gorgeous backdrop that is perfect for family shots.

Set in the tall pines overlooking Emerald Bay this vista point is well designed with wheel chair paved paths that meander along and offering great views at every turn. Paved walkways make every aspect of Lake Tahoe picture-frame perfect. Parking can be a bit crowded, especially during the summer months around 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. so you might want to head out early and avoid the crowds. You will also find your trip around Lake Tahoe will go a lot faster. Take note that legal parking does NOT include Highway 89. Avoid parking outside the designated parking lot. Restrooms are available and you might find a food cart during peak summer season. During heavy winter season Hwy 89 can be closed so check road conditions before heading out.

If you want to spend the more time in the area we suggest hiking Cascade Falls Hiking Trail or Bayview Hiking Trail. Parking for these two hikes is just across the street from Inspiration Point at the end of the Bayview Campground. You can also make another stop to hike to Vikingsholm Castle or hike up the Eagle Falls Lake just down the road from Inspiration Point.
