Visiting The Tahoe Maritime Museum

A few weeks ago on our way to Tahoe City our family decided to take a detour and pay a visit to The Tahoe Maritime Museum. Little did we know what a treat was in store for us and our five year old daughter. We walked away with a new found appreciation of Lake Tahoe’s maritime history and also the many volunteers and donators who are dedicated to preserving it. Sawtooth Trail

Length: 9 mile loop Elevation Gain: 500 feet Terrain: single-track, smooth dirt, some scree deposits This adventure takes mountain bikers, runners, and day-hikers along the ridge between Squaw Valley and Northstar ski resorts. Many Truckee local’s like to bike the Sawtooth Trail for a fun excursion that is not too difficult. The gentle rolling single-track trail snakes through some rocky, sparse forest areas. Brockway Summit to Watson Lake

Distance: 13.4 miles round trip Elevation Change: 7000 ft. to 7760 ft. Hiking Watson Lake Trail: Casual hikers love Watson Lake for it’s beauty and seclusion. It is a perfect site for a picnic and swim with gorgeous views, wildflowers, and small wildlife. The trail is more of a scenic path on fairly flat terrain for the first 4.5 miles then a gentle climb for 2.2  miles to Watson Lake. Tahoe Vista Recreation Area and Boat Launch

Summer 2022 Update: Due to continued low water levels, the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area (TVRA) boat ramp will remain closed to motorized boats for the 2022 boating season. Non-motorized crafts will have access to the launch following a self-assessment for aquatic invasive species using the Clean, Drain, and Dry method. Tahoe Vista Recreation Area and Boat Launch underwent a total reconstruction.
