HGTV aims to make someone’s dream of owning a gorgeous home in Truckee, CA true! Imagine living in a custom-built, fully furnished home with breathtaking panoramic views of the Sierra Mountains and just minutes to stunning Lake Tahoe. 2014 HGTV Dream Home Giveaway was recently completed and the sweepstakes are officially over – winner to be announced April 15th, 2014. The Dream Home
Located in the pristine Schaffer’s Mill community, the spacious HGTV home is 3,200 square feet and rests on a one-third-acre lot. It features expansive windows that reach from the floor all the way up to the tips of the gables, flooding the home with natural light. The first floor is split into two wings that are divided by an outdoor living space with two gas fireplaces. In addition to the first floor master bedroom, the second floor has two more bedrooms (one of which is a kids/bunk room) and a family/home theater room with a private deck overlooking the backyard. The Community
Schaffer’s Mill is a special four-season family community. It offers a par 71, 18-hole championship golf course, quick access to the best ski slopes in the area, a resident’s-only yacht, and a clubhouse right on the shores of Lake Tahoe that is reserved for the exclusive use of community members. The Clubhouse Village spans 7.4 areas and is equipped with restaurants, a bar, sports shop, workout/fitness facility, play areas, amazing swimming pool, and an expansive lawn for community events. The Dream House in Truckee CA would be a beautiful house to win and Truckee would be a very centered town to live in because it is close to a lot of friends that live in northern CA and the Tahoe area. I travel by Truckee many time and have always enjoyed the Truckee town that also has some good restaurants and other places to enjoy with family and friends.
This home would be a wonderful gift for my husband .It is much needed since our home needs a lot of repairs !!

My wife used to live in South Lake Tahoe before we got married at Emerald Bay, ten years ago. We would love to move back to the Tahoe Basin and i n to this beautiful home, espcially since we just lost our home due to foreclosure. It would be a much needed answer from heaven to our prayers.

Winning the Lake Tahoe home would be like full circle to me When I was 6 years old my Dad had a nervous break down and we took off to Lake Tahoe. We moved to Iowa when I was 8 and my heart has always wanted to go back.Dad died last year and we always talked about our fabulous vacation at Lake Tahoe and how we would love to go back.Winning the HGTV home would be bringing our family a dream come true.

Truly is a dream. I’ve been signing my boyfriend up for 3 years now getting our hopes up every time. His 6 year contract with the Army is coming to an end in the next year and we are looking to get our first home together. He refuses to propose until we have our own home but we cant afford to move out of my parents house for another year or two 🙁 We’re both young and have a lot of aspirations and motivation but our potential is being dangerously limited because of where we are located, and I’m starting to believe its affecting our purpose in life. We will never achieve the things we want in life and for those around us living here in Mims, FL! This home is perfect for us, our way of life, our interests, our dreams & goals, and the location couldn’t be any better!! My soul would feel at home & I would flourish & prosper here. I’m in complete awe when i look at the videos and pictures. My husband and I have been married for 17 years and I have lived here (Yuba City) all my life. He worked in the Tahoe/Truckee area driving a set of doubles and would show me pictures of some of the beautiful homes and the beautiful scenery. I have visited there and we both would love to have have a home there. We are both getting close to retirement and would like to win your beautiful new home.

Good question. I suggest you contact HGTV directly via their website. They might offer some “Open House” event at some point, but we do not know for sure if they do. The HGTV Dream home is in a gated community of Schaffer’s Mill ( http://schaffersmill.com/) so being able to drive by easily probably is not an option without prior arrangements.

I would live to be the owner of this magnificent home. A home that is more beautiful then anyone could ever imagine. I am 63 years old and lost my home and will be homeless very soon. It would be a dream come true to be moving to Lake Tahoe.

This is an amazing prize regardless, but I would like to point out some misleading information…
The official site says Dream Home Lake Tahoe 2014, but when you look at the official rules it says “Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize Winner shall win the Grand Prize which consists of: (i) the home located in Truckee, California “…
No one with a house in Truckee would say that they live in Lake Tahoe…reason being they are not the same place at all, and can be a driving time of anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on which side of the lake you want. That would be like having a house in Reno and saying you live in Truckee, which is about the same driving time between Reno and Truckee as it is between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. It is still a great prize nonetheless but I just wanted to let everyone know that the house is NOT located in Lake Tahoe. Look it up on Google Maps if you do not believe me.

I use to live in So. Lake Tahoe….to win the HGTV Dream House would be a dream to return back to the area as I have beautiful memories of the area and family times.

I know we couldn’t afford to live in the house. I think the income taxes are 1/3 of the amount won. If I’m not mistaken. If federal income taxes were $660,000 and what ever taxes the state would take, assuming you would use the $250,000 towards the federal tax bill you would still have $410,000 plus state to pay. You would have to take out a $410,000 + mortgage on the house plus the property taxes would make A large monthly payment.
What I am wondering is how much rent can you get from renting it out to vacationers?

I am sure many would like peace of mind. I know that after taking care of so many homeless families and taking care of the elderly. I thought how great it would be to have my time freed up to go and do more. God said to me one day Sandy all that you have I have I given you. To all those who ask give to them and if you will you do this you will be blessed and not have to worry about tomorrow. I am not sure what it would be like to receive such a great gift. As many of you have stated who ever receives this gift it is a gift from God and from those he inspired to give it. As we take and give back to those around us. Pass it on. So that many may receive the blessings and feel of his love through sharing. If we all had this mentality there would be know suffering in the world. God bless you all for all you do to give back.

Home.but July 3rd my husband had a heart attack stroke and caused anoxic brain injury.he came home Sept.12 2013 from hospital.It would just be a beautiful home and place to live with our grandchildren. That could enjoy what time he may have on this earth.That would be a dream.
